WHAT IS CSS

§CSS stands for Central Superior Services §

The Central Superior Services Examination is conducted every year for induction to Group 17 of the Civil Services. All this process is monitors by Federal Public Service Commission.

History of CSS

Imperial civil services (Indian civil services) 1858 .At the time of Partition (980 ICS officers: 468 were Europeans, 352 Hindus, 101 Muslims and others) After partition (Pakistan Civil Services) Civil servants act. 1973.

CSS exams for

(1) Commerce &Trade Group

(2) Foreign Service of Pakistan

(3) Information Group

(4) Inland Revenue Service

(5) Military Lands & Cantonments Group

(6) Office Management Group

(7) Pakistan Administrative Service

(8) Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service

(9) Pakistan Customs Service

(10) Police Service of Pakistan

(11) Postal Group

(12) Railways (Commercial &Transportation) Group

CSS Eligibility criteria:

}Applicant should be Pakistani citizen

}Creating opportunity for both male and female

}7.5% open merit seats, 92.5% Quota system

}Minimum qualification Graduation

}Age limit 21-30 years (according to new amendment)

CSS exam shall comprise the following:

(a) Written Examination

(b) Medical Examination

(c) Psychological Assessment

(d) Viva Voce.

     Religions (For Non Muslims)

Medical Examination

(i) All candidates must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the discharge of their duties

(ii) Disabled candidates in the categories of physically impaired, hearing/speech impaired(deaf & dumb) and visually impaired (blind) are allowed to compete for Competitive Examination.

Psychological Assessment

All candidates called for Viva Voce will be required to undergo Psychological Assessment, comprising written tests and group tasks. Such tests are designed to assess abilities, attitude and personality characteristics of the candidates with special regard to their aptitude for the Civil Services.

VIVA VOCE

(i) Each candidate who is declared qualified in written part of the examination will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of his/her career, both academic and extramural.

(ii) All candidates are expected to have basic knowledge regarding Islam and Pakistan. Questions may be asked in the Interview on these subjects

(iii) Viva Voce will be of 300 marks. A candidate who fails to secure at least 100 marks in viva voce will be considered to have failed and will not be eligible for appointment

(iv) The result of Viva Voce shall be intimated to all candidates in due course of time

After clearing all these levels finally candidate have choice to select Groups/Services which he indicate on priority list
